Subsidy Scheme for The HKUST EMBA for Chinese Executives Program

Prospectus

I.

Objective of the

Scheme:

For the purpose to train senior management personnel with innovative and global strategic thinking through the study of cross-domain and interdisciplinary business knowledge, the Talents Development Committee and the Macao Foundation have jointly organized the “HKUST EMBA Program Funding Scheme” to select qualified Macao residents for advanced training at HKUST Business School.

III.

Program information:

1. Title of the Program: “HKUST EMBA Chinese and English Bilingual Program”.

2. Program period: September 2017 to December 2018

3. Program arrangements: A part-time system is adopted for the program, with a period of 16 months at the campus of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

4. Teaching languages: Chinese and English teaching materials are provided. The program is taught in Putonghua and English, of which   English teaching will be accompanied by Putonghua translation.

5. Program contents:

A. Composed of nine core modules, the program focuses on the establishment of cross-domain and interdisciplinary business knowledge to comprehensively enhance innovative and global strategic thinking, covering statistics, economics, financial accounting, management accounting, corporate finance, leadership and organizational management, marketing strategy, operations and value chain management as well as strategic management.

B. Two global study tours including Stanford University innovative tour, a visit to large enterprises at Silicon Valley such as Linkedin, Google, etc., a study tour to the University of Tel Aviv, Israel, a  visit to the World Innovation Base so as to enable the students to establish ideas of global thinking management and multi-angle innovation.

IV.

Program fees and the funding amount:

1. The total program cost in the 2017/2018 academic year is approximately HKD 938,000, including all the tuition fees, costs for teaching materials, and meals and accommodation for all modules. Applicants are required to pay all the program-related fees within the specified time.

2. The funding amount for the program is MOP 200,000, which is to be deposited by the Macao Foundation at a time (usually in October 2017) through bank transfer to the account of the grantee in a bank in Macao.

VI. Period for applying:

June 1 to July 14, 2017

(The applications deadline has been extended from 30 June to 14 July: announcement)

VII. Application object:

Macao permanent residents who have applied or are admitted to this Program.

VIII. Application procedure:

The applicant shall complete the following two steps in sequence on or before July 14, 2017:

Step 1:  Log in at http://hkustemba.ust.hk/zh-hk/applyonline and complete the program registration procedure.

Step 2:  Log in to the website of the Talents Development Committee at http://www.scdt.gov.mo/, click on the icon of this program to enter the funding application system, fill in and submit the following information:

A. A copy of the Macao permanent resident identity card;

B. A copy of the certificate of degree of bachelor or above and of the average grade (GPA) certification document;

C. Personal resume (at least eight years’ work experience);

D. Proof of application or admission certificate of this program for the 2017/2018 academic year.

IX.  Selection and confirmation:

One best candidate shall be selected as the grantee by a task group formed by the Talents Development Committee. The grantee list shall be delivered to the Macao Foundation for confirmation.

X.  Publication of the result:

The result shall be published in August 2017 on the website of the Talents Development Committee.

XI. The obligations of the grantee and the revocation of the grant:

1. The certificate of admission to this program, statement of acceptance of the grant and the related responsibilities, a copy of the passbook of a Macao bank account (the page with name and account number of the grantee) and a resume printed through the “Talent Information Registration system” shall be submitted to the Talents Development Committee within 15 days after the grantee list is published;

2. The grantee is required to handle application of visa by himself;

3. The grantee shall receive no grant, scholarship or subsidy issued at the same time by any other public entities in Macao;

4. A copy of the Degree Certificate shall be submitted to the Talents Development Committee within 6 months after the master’s degree  program is completed;

5. The grantee shall come back and work in the program-related field in the Macao Special Administrative Region for no less than 2 years within 6 months after completing the master’s degree program. In the event of a special case, the grantee shall apply in advance to the Talents Development Committee. With a written consent from the Committee, the grantee may delay performance of such obligation for a maximum of one year;

6. If the grantee fails to fulfill his obligations in accordance with the provisions of these Regulations and the relevant Statement, all the grant received shall be repaid by the Talents Development Committee to the Macao Foundation within one year counting from the date when the grantee fails to perform his obligations;

7. In the event of force majeure or special circumstances, the grantee may apply in writing to the Talents Development Committee for exemption from or delay in repayment, provided that the relevant proof is provided;

8. In case the grantee fails to comply with the relevant provisions of the repayment, he shall bear all the legal liabilities.

Note: In case these Regulations are not perfect somewhere, the Talents Development Committee reserves the right of amendment and interpretation and retains the right to make the final decision on the various matters regarding these Regulations.
